cant get gears of war working on gateway p-6831fx

ok i just got this laptop and i got every game working except gears of wars. The game starts and then like after 2-3 minutes it shuts of and has some error.
I reinstalled it and installed different graphic drivers and still doesnt work. Also i try to update using the windows live it and it always shuts down as well.
I dont even get to play the game it shuts down even before that. Like the game boots and shows the menus and it works for like 2 mintues and has some error.
i think it has something to do with vista
also i have vista sp 1 with all newest updates.

 

I'm playing GOW right now on my P-6831, and I haven't had any problems. I'm using 169.09 drivers with Vista, it worked well for me before and after SP1 installation.

i just got my drivers from gateway.com

 

go to all programs, games and then gears of war. this worked for me. vynle

 

Alright rambo, let me just ask you one question. Is your Gears of War a legit copy? Because I know what's wrong with it if it's downloaded copy, not that I have downloaded it

 

yeah its legit i got it like the week it came out from amazon just never got around playing it
i figured the problem out and thanks to every ones help
you have to go to games in vista and click on it because you cant run it from the dvd menu or craps out
also i downloaded a patch from filefront and you have to get windows live redistribute as well which was the source of the problem
will post a good tutorial on my blog of how to get this to working

some people sell the import version on ebay for like 10 bucks...but seems a little sketchy
