yeah, the stuff that you drink not sniff. I have a Gateway MX6440 coke was splashed into keyboard. I have been told to 'flush' the computer with distilled water and then let dry for about 3-4 days. The distilled water will 'wash' out the sticky and if left to dry before using again, it may be saved. This sure is hard for me to do. I have tried to take it apart but I have not been able to get it all apart. I would love some input. Flush? Take apart? I have tried crying but that has not done much but give me a headache. Thanks in advance.

I have heard that electronics can be completely submerged in water and be fine, so long as it's completely dry before you power it back on.

I dunno though, in your shoes I'd find a way to take it apart and wash the keyboard separately. I don't think I could pour water into my computer.

I think he's not referring specifically to his computer, it's just something he's heard.

First off, don't power it on. Remove the battery. Remove the keyboard, and try to clean it with rubbing alcohol or lukewarm water. You may need to buy a new keyboard. Did you turn it upside down and power off (if it was on) as soon as it happened?

just so you wouldnt waste time, make sure that the laptop is still ok. check out if the spill went to the motherboard. if the spill is local to the keyboard only, disconnect the keyboard and turn the power to see if your laptop is not dead. if it is working fine, it should POST and may give out an error about keyboard not found. At this point, feel free to wash your keyboard or even soak it with DiStilled water-- make sure it is distilled-- not just any kind of bottled water. it has to be distilled. air dry it for a couple of days or you can dry it faster with a hair dryer.. but make sure the keyboard is bone dry when you install it back to your laptop.
