Running Windows 7 on an NV7915U. Not sure if this is an issue w/ the laptop, or the operating system...

I have an external monitor connected to the laptop, and the lid is closed. Resolution of the monitor is 1680x1050, and the resolution of the laptop screen is 1600x900.

When the laptop wakes from sleep, it appears that it doesn't realize there is an external monitor connected, and it uses the 1600x900 resolution, which the monitor cannot handle. To make things work properly, I have to open the laptop and then close it again.

Anybody know how to solve this? Is it an issue w/ the laptop, graphics driver, or OS?

    Thanks!

Bump. Anybody else using an external display and seeing this behavior?

It could be a driver issue, or you might can solve the issue with turning off the "sleep" mode of Windows

I'm more curious as to how a 1680x1050 monitor cant handle 1600x900 as its a lower resolution... it would look funny but it should be able to produce that res.

Bumping this thread in that I haven't found a solution. Running latest video drivers.

Anybody else have a similar problem?

Here's my tip: Don't use sleep except when your laptop isn't plugged into the monitor. Laptops are very efficient so I don't feel bad about leaving it on all the time. Just make sure you have powermizer enabled and that your CPU goes into a low-power state like it should. If it is dust you are worried about if the fan runs all the time needlessly like mine does, then you could put a filter under the fan intake. BTW your 1680x1050 can definitely handle 1600x900, but you might have to make a custom resolution first. But its not like you would want to run it on 1600x900 any way.
