Trying to use my linux distro and boot from usb. But whenever I try it says, missing os then no os found. I know the usb works as I used it on my desktop.

    Any ideas?

Try formatting the usb and replacing the file, sometimes after creating a bootable usb it doesn't eject properly and can corrupt the drive.

Probably don't have to ask but have you tried setting the bios settings so that it boots off the USB first? Worth a shot, also what USB installer did you use?
I used this one and it has step by step instructions. Works like a charm. I had Kubuntu Live on it without problem.

I wouldn't advise setting it to boot in bios because when it reboots after installation it will try and boot from the usb again and interrupt your installation.

Advisor: I said to "try it" meaning to see if it will generate the desired result. It worked for me and has worked ever since. The check down system in the bios settings was made specifically for choosing either the CD reader, hard drive or USB to boot from or in what order. ALSO, he is not installing it but rather BOOTING from it.

its all good, I noticed this as well, I was unable to select my USB device from the boot menu, I had too set it as the first boot device (Win7 USB installer)...

Just make sure when it reboots to go in and remove the USB device from the first boot device position (or like I did, and remove everything but the HDD...)

    Cheers..
