quick question here...
its perfectly normal for gaming performance to be horrible when i'm not plugged in right?

Yes, your graphics card automatically downclocks to conserve power. I believe 176.16 driver (or similar area) and older for Nvidia cards do not downclock on battery.

yes, that's quite normal. no matter what your performance settings are, your notebook will downclock when on battery power.

Powermiser switch application; not tested by me because my nb is out for repairs.

i tried it, works great (but be ready for the battery to die fast)

if you play big games like l4d, it's pointless. -

woah...sweet, thanks!

I guess its ok to game on battery if your really into a game and have to take a long crap and don't wanna stop the fun... other than that you don't get a whole lot of time on battery while using that much power.

^ Well there's an awkward image...
 -

i've done that with raids on WOW back when i had my old HP.... not as awkward as one would think....
 -

thats probably 10x more grotesque when you think about the fact that he was probably on vent the whole time during those WoW raids...
 -

LOL haha hehe
