    ok i had a post in here a while ago and now im posting again, my gateway sfx a while ago starting doing a wierd things with the screen :

    * color white flickers as pink
    * there was a green line down the right hand side of the screen
    * it done it occasionally

    and we hooked it up to an external display and it was fine, i asked if anyone could point me in the direction of a flex cable, and i was given 2 websites, both those websites have said out of stock for months now.

    Do u guys think that its the screen or just the flex cable, also do u know anywhere that sells it, and that has it in stock because i cant find it anywhere, i put it in the local pc repair store and they couldnt source one neither. I feel as if 850 quid is wasted. Can someone please help me

    Have you tried reseating your moniter cable?

    On the offshot chance you can also try running a Dead Pixel Program. It can sometimes "restart" a moniter if its acting funny. But its pretty hit or miss at the best of times.

    If it is just your moniter then the nice thing is you can replace it pretty easily, so you can still get quite a while of use out of the system. (can even upgrade to a better moniter if you want) I know thats not a perfect solution, but its better and ALOT cheaper than having to buy a new rig if you dont need one

    sounds like a loose/faulty cable....maybe the video card is not utilizing correctly to display the external explay correctly?.... try changing different settings in the nvidia cp and different display settings?

    hi thanks for the replys.

    Kamin_Majere:

    if you mean reseating the monitor cable as in removing the media panel and unplugging it, blowing dust out and plugging it back in then yeah i gae that a try, didnt fix the problem unfortunatly.

    Ill try the dead pixel fixer when i get it back, its still away im awaiting it being shipped back any day now.

    Also if i get a new screen surly it wont fix the problem, if its the flex cable then a new monitor would shurly be money wasted, i do plan on getting one that does 1080i in future. The laptop is quite upgradable.

    t3rR0r:

    its not a video card driver, its running the latest ones , and when it started doing it i got rid of it and got a different one, and no effect. But if i press on the plastic of the case where the monitor it fixes it temporarily, so it points me to the cable or monitor, or both.

    I just can seem to find the lcd and camera cable (there joined together) anywhere that has one in stock or is getting more stock in, newer model cable works on it im pretty sure, id have to check that. Im just so gutted and disappointed,

    If you press the monitor and it does fix it then the monitor is likely the cause. The is a slight chance it could be enouf preasure to seat the cable in the monitor itself but I doubt that.
