Tanware, did you notice a big difference when you upgraded your P-7805U to the X9100? I wonder if the current P8400 that is in my P7805U would work on my P6860FX?

I am not sure the GM965 chipset will work with the P8400. That is a question better answered by someone else.

As far as the x9100 from the P8400 you will notice a difference. Be sure to use 9c.17.00 bios or better as it seems it is snappier with the 6mb L2. The P8400 seemed on rare occasions a bit slow, I haven't noticed that at all with the x9100.

About the only time the cpu floods is about 10 seconds with the SSD at boot. If I video encode I can of course flood it then too. In all I would say 99.99% of the time the CPU is more than I need.

Even with a Quad at 3.0 GHz on those rare occasions of say video encoding I'd flood the CPU. I am not convinced for the other 99.99% of the time it would make any real difference. I just wanted a Quad I am convinced as of yet they are not needed.

To sum it up, with the P8400 there was an occasional lag or stutter, between the x9100, SSD and XT you just can't seem to bog it down (at least for my use).......
