BIOS has nothing to do with operating system.... and flashing the bios can be risky business, what exactly are you looking to be fixed/improved?

the 6831 shipped with the 94.26.00
some of the 6860 had the 94.28.00 and some the 94.29.00

what are the differences between the three ? gateway never told us.

94.28 is available to download, but I personally don't play with BIOS upgrades. If flashing fails, your computer becomes a paper weight.

I believe I told you that BIOS has nothing to do with the operating system, so you can install whatever windows you want as long as the rest of your computer is compatible.

But why do you want to upgrade your BIOS if you don't even know what they do?

Stop being paranoid. Yes in the old school days the bios flash process might had failed. But lately never had any flashing fail. Just use common sense, dont flash on battery dont flash if you're overheating, etc...
Its always good to flash to the latest bios version, sometimes manufactures find a screw up and quietly fix it with a firmware update.

The .31 is indeed the latest BIOS version released... but except for VT and XD it actually does nothing else.

not really worth it... Or at least no real benefit for actually doing the upgrade unless you can find a use for VT and XD... i still cant figure out what they actually do for you (but i guess its a bit above my pay grade in the grand scheme of computer knowledge)
