The processor (AMD Athlon 3400+) is a low end yet powerfull processor. Much better than those of Celeron. The GPU (ATI X200) is integrated, so don't plan on doing much gaming. It is still the best integrated graphics on the market though. 512 ram is considered the 'minimum' today. It will be more than sufficient for everyday tasks (word processing, music, internet browsing, burning CDs etc). I personally love the screen. Very vibrant and bright. The harddrive is 80GB, which is pretty good. 4200 rpms is slow, but once again, it is more than sufficient for everyday tasks. I love the keyboard. There are a few minor inconvieniences about it (like the undersized spacebar, insert key next to spacebar), but you learn to adapt :). The touchpad is by far the best that I have yet used. I love it. Perfect fit for me. No way to disable it for typing though. Speakers are very clear. I'd say above average for a notebook. Wireless (broadcom) is very good. Better than the Intel options (IMO).
If you plan on gaming to a certain extent, look at the MX7525. This won't get you very far when gaming. If you only want it for basic uses, for the price, you can't go wrong :)
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Edit: Battery life is lackluster. Take that into consideration too :D (with mine, I get about 2:20 when doing normal tasks: firefox wireless on, winamp through internal speakers, screen 70%. The MX7118 could probably pull off a little bit longer) Also weight. It is around 8 pounds. Consider that too.
