hi, do you guys know if there is a program to control the fans of the gateway fx???? like ik8fanguy????![]()
-
lets start small, monitoring....
nothing -
nope but i sure do miss fangui
-
Sorry to bring back an old topic again, but i was wondering the same question. Anyone know if there is a program to control fan speed. My fans in my Gateway P-6860 are SO LOUD. whether i play games or not.
-
Does NHC work on these FX's? You could try it and see...
-
na ahhhhhh as in does not
-
Is there any way to make the fans less noisy?
-
Turn off the laptop.
Seriously though, you think the fans are noisy? I can only ever hear mine when I'm gaming, and even then they're pretty quiet. Maybe that's just because I'm used to sleeping in the same room as my Dell Inspiron... a.k.a. SR-71 Blackbird. -
Mine only turn on when gaming now, bu they stay on for like 5 - 10 min after that. Is that normal?
-
They stay on long enough to cool down what ever it is that needs to be cooled.
You should maybe download hwmonitor and monitor your temps to get an idea of whats getting hottest in your notebook. -
there are some ways to make it less noisy beside the the one danja offered (which is beyond doubt the most effective).
any method that will reduce internal heat will reduce fan noise, so using power saver/balanced over performance power settings. undervolting your cpu, allowing good flow of air to and from the notebook, tilting the back end of notebook by an inch or so , making sure dust does not over accumulate.
... avoid rendering 3d and avoid gaming
btw never put your notebook in the freezer for cooling purposes -
Ok ill do that. I also just realized my mic fix was only temporary. Whenever i restart my computer, my mic doesnt work anymore =[ Could someone please walk me through what to do.
-
nevermind my last post, i fixed it i think. Do any of you have any ideas on what glue to use to hold the binding down. Its the gray part across from the Esc key. It needs to be strong glue that will be able to hold even when getting hot. Any ideas?
-
Anyone know how i can fix the binding?
-
Quick question: Does updating the video drivers affect when fans will turn on? I've noticed after switching to 177.66 from 177.41 my graphics card fans don't kick in on "loud gear" as quite as soon as they use to, specifically when gaming for the same amount of time and at the same room temperature and at the same temp readings on HWMonitor. Should I be worried?
I also installed this Ntune thing just today, did no optimizations or configurations for it whatsoever, and I am not sure if they changed anything that might let the hardware heat up inside. There were fan configurations on it but I did not touch it as it was all greyed out.
P.S I must say the temps on HWMonitor are still all normal when idling or surfing (GPU: 45C, CPU:41, HDD:49} -
^^ I have the same question. And how do you think i should fix the binding?
-
if your temps are the same and your fan kick in less it means that the driver is better at keeping your gpu cool. so no worries there.
as you said the fan control is grayed out, so you cant do anything about it.
campe post a picture so we can see clearly what you are talking about. -
nothing to worry
i dont know but my gpu never got more than 73C hot and fans are very silent. -
my cpu only gets to about 70-73 too but my TZS0/TZS1 goes above 90
-
-
they did before i undervolted the CPU (x7800)
i havent played enough to see if they still do but obviously everything runs cooler; my GPU isnt overclocked obviously
this sucks because the 6860 FX that i have doesnt overheat at all
also on the P171 the fans are on ALL THE TIME while on the 6860 they were always very quiet even when gaming (and like the 6860 there doesnt seem to be much air coming out even though i air-cleaned it)
=/
id like to figure out if the Extreme CPU is responsible or the rest of the chassis
EDIT: temps down to 87/89 for TZS0/1 after undervolting to 1.1875v (x14 multiplier) ... will try lower voltage now
EDIT 2: wow...undervolted to 1.1750v..holding steady at 80/83 now...this is playing CS:S on a full server btw (very cpu intensive) -
so wow okay bottom line - i went from 100C TZS to 80C TZS just by undervolting to 1.1750v x14 multiplier
EDIT: 1.1750 isnt stable for me; changed to 1.1875 - stable
