Does anyone have this laptop? I was wondering about its build quality and battery life mostly, as well as temperatures. It's really cheap compared to other laptops with the same specs and more available to me (I live in Canada) so before I bought it I just wanted to know what it was like in the aspects mentioned above.

If any owners could give me some advice about its performance, battery life, temperatures etc. I would be grateful. Thank you

It's in the series of laptops from Gateway known as "Tempest."
It is similar to the M-6851, and the M-6850FX / M-6864FX.

Search a bit in these forums, and you will find some info.
They are VERY capable for the price, but you need to know what to expect from it. It is NOT a high-end gaming platform, but will do low-to-mid-level gaming just fine.

    That has a T5750/3GB/250GB/ATI HD2600+512MB DDR3 / 15.4" @ 1280x800.

Nice machine, about 6.3lbs, overclockable video card if you're an enthusiast.

Battery life - using Vista's "Power Saver" power profile, I can get 2.25-2.75 hours of use, surfing around with WiFi on, with LCD brightness set to 3-of-8.

If you play a little more, and use RMClock (I think will require 32-bit Vista) and undervolt, you can squeeze about another 20-30 minutes out of it.

EDIT: Just surfing right now, temps are 38-41c on both cores, and that's stock voltages. GPU is 47-49c.

Go with integrated graphics, you will get more battery life. Notebooks are not for gaming and with the low resolution screen you won't be watching HDTV or movies.

LOL. And people wonder why I get sarcastic.

1.) Quite a few notebooks ARE for gaming.
2.) Even with a 1280x800 screen, you can still watch high-def movies at 720P, which look marvelous I might add.
3.) There are several notebooks with a 1920x1200 screen which actually out-res the high-def 1080p standard.
