yes, i've seen that. but what i am talking about is when you're at gateway's site, they have laptops you can customize, and i don't see an MX series anywhere. no need to get rude and say i'm wasting people's time with my silly questions. if you felt it was a waste of time, then why come here and answer it?

i guess i am trying to figure out when this laptop came out. i have only really found one "review" of it so far.

so yes, i do know how to use google. ;)

Gateway keeps the retail machines away from the direct machines. Notice that all you can get on the site is Intel, where as almost all (seriously. There is only one that is Intel) retail are AMD. Retail is running laps around direct as far as sales go.
As for the 'no reviews' part, Gateway is pretty much going downhill. This drives many people away from Gateway. Yes, if they aren't here in a couple years, support will be a problem. People think that the build is going too, but the only time Gateway's build quality actually decreased, is when they stopped building their notebooks in the US. Before that, their machines were top-notch.
Their machines are fine now though :) I like mine plenty, but my hinges are bugging me.

it's ok. just remember, everyone has asked stupid questions before. it's how we learn. it's how we migrate from newbie status to someone who knows a thing or two about computers.

as a member of various forums, and now a few with reputation features, i am very adamant about how people are treated in these kinds of places.

    apology accepted. :)

When I searched on gateway's site for mx6421, nothing was found. THey need to work on the site (HOPE THEY ARE READING THIS). Are the XP drivers the ones to use with media center (I'm a LInux user and new to Media Center)? Also, the XP drivers are 32-bit so I assume MediaCenter is 32-bit (funny, they market the heck out of the 64-bit CPU -- I got it for Linux). I had to find some on the net with 64-bit drivers for the broadcom to use it with ndiswrappers on Linux -- a pita.
