    hi i have a gateway 7210 gx.
my power cord fell out so i plugged it back in and wham sound gone.I then went to device manager and it said soundblaster not working code error 10
so i rebooted and then uninstalled and reinstalled the soundblaster digital.

Now in device manager it says soundcard is working fine but still no sound.
Im thinking the ac to battery to ac may have shorted it out, but im not sure.

I have tried gateways tech, thier not helpfull unless your still under warranty.

the thing is i have 2 of the same notebook 1 in peices for parts.

    Does anyone know
    1. do you think it shorted out?
    2. If it did is it removable
3 or is it just part of the mother board and would i have to change the motherboard with the other notebook

and if noone knows do the usb soundcards work even if your existing soundblaster goes bad?

thanx for your help in advance.
kinda sucks to have 2 7210 notebooks and nether runs right.

does it work with external speakers? - yes then u probably fried ur internal speakers

usb sound card would work even though the main sound is not there since it is a completely different device

    cheers ...
