My p-6831 fx won't play any sound. I have done everything under the sun from updating drivers to uninstalling and reinstalling them. It's wierd though when I uninstalled them and reinstalled them it would play a tick sound when doing both. I know its some sort of software issue cuz when I restored it to a precious state it would play sound and then I would start getting the modem device on high definition Audi device install drivers pop up again. I finally got that corrected by updating the modem drivers I have also updated all of the drivers I could find on the machine and still no luck. This all started happening after installing drivers for an LG optimus phone which I have long since gotten rid of and ran a registry cleaner to make sure there weren't any traces left. When trying to play a test tone it says failed to play test tone and when opening iTunes it pops up saying dssenh.DLL is either not designed to run on windows or is corrupted etc. I don't want to pay for a DLL repair tool if I don't have to. Any suggestions?

Saw this solution on another board. Check to see if you get audio to headphones. If you do then try this:

    1. Start On The Menu Section
    2. On The Right Side Of The Menu Go To Control Panel
    3. (Click) On Smart Audio
    4. Once you click on smart Audio
    5. Click On Audio Director
    6. Under Test 1 & 2 Click On Classic Mode To Check It Off.
7.Once the classic mode is checked off make sure you restart Your Latop
    8. Once Your Latop Is Restarted Then Go To Windows MEdia Player Click On Any Song you want, and then click on the song and then your sound will be working again.
    Hope This Works Bye.

If above fails, do you still have that restore point where everything worked?

If so use it and delete the registry cleaner.

It sounds like your registry wrecker ate a shared DLL. Pay for a DLL repair tool? You can restore your whole system for free with a little work.
