well my flex cable for my gateway finally came from canada, damb import tax, anyhows, so i went and got the cable and brough it home.

So i sat down this morning and stripped down the screen, took out the flex cable and put in the new one, wasnt that hard and didnt take that long.

Putting it back together i noticed there is a magnet in the top right hand corner and i was just wondering, does anyone know why there is a magnet there ???

either way the screen is now fine, no pink flickering or green dotted lines, and i done a fresh install of windows 7 build 7600 the new declaired rtm (i think)

it runs like a dream, glad to have it back, thanks to everyone who gave me advice and helped me find the cable.

    it is much apreciated

    Congratz on the easy fix.

I believe that the magnet is sort of like a chatch on a cabinet door. When have it closed it keeps the lid from bouncing or vibrating, there is also a corresponding magnet in the base, they meet when the NB is closed.
