Gateway lost my roomates laptop when he sent it in for service.

Now my girlfriend sent her 450 in for ADP service and they have had it for over TWO MONTHS AND they dont plan on having any info for two more weeks!!!!

I will never buy gateway nor will anyone I know!

Try calling them over and over again. I bet they misplaced it somewhere like under the table or something [ :p]

Wow, how unfortunate for you people. Gateway has been great for the two times I sent mine in (hinges and power adapter jack). Gateway ranks top on my list.

When I had to use their restore disk, it did not load the gateway drivers (an mx7515 notebook). Now they want me to pay for a driver disk. Most of the drivers are not posted on their site Grrrrr!

I have always feared sending out something that costs over $1k....

I have had some terrible luck with Gateway's tech support as well. Well the HD failed on my 8510GZ, so I called in for a replacement. TWO months later, after several phone calls, I finally receive it.

Since I had been waiting so long for my HD, they recommended that I send in my notebook for them to repair.

I said to h3ll with that, and after seeing this i'm sure glad I didn't send it in.

Consumer's Reports rates their tech support as being the worst of the pack. Apple is rated the best, followed by Toshiba.

I just reported to Gateway that my DVD-RW was outta whack & they promptly indicated that another replacement is on the way. As far as any one company being better than another doesn't tell me much, since there are so many intermediate variables. One gripe about Gateway is that it doesn't provide a toll-free number to reach tech support (although the hold time is pretty short -- well, duh, that's probably because nobody is calling in??). But, then again, Apple is another story for another time.
