well after going to all the BB's that are selling the 7805 they no longer have any of the 1920's res screens.

so instead i will be ordering my 7801 from tigerdirect.com

is there anything in particular i will be missing out on? from what i understand they are the exact same specs as the 7805 except for the 'intended' resolution of the 7805.

    ???

They are the same, same specs and everything.

I'm not sure whether they come with the lg screen or the other screen though

You may be better off, price-wise, from Tiger Direct. With the 10% cash back from live.com, the price comes out to $1169 with free shipping. Depending on your state's sales tax, you might come out a few bucks ahead...maybe enough for a couple games, a few thumb drives, or laptop case. Not quite as good as the $1199 from Newegg (with, I believe, 6% cash back...it was like $1125 or so), but that seems to be an extinct deal.

Best Buy has these for $1149 plus tax, which will run you anywhere from 0 to a hundred dollars or so.

You may have to wait a few days with Tiger Direct, but it's the best deal I could find on this model...I'm still debating grabbing one, waiting for a refurbed 7811 (if they ever offer them again) or waiting for the Core2Quad that's coming up from JR.com.

Best of luck, whatever you decide.

Then again it sure is nice if when I open the box and it does not work, I can just run down to the corner and return/replace it

go to live.com and register; then do a search for "laptop" or "cheap laptop" and you'll see several sites listed as sponsors. You may have to refresh a few times, but eventually Tiger Direct will pop up saying "10 percent off on all laptops." Click on the link to be redirected to TD's website. Then order the computer as usual. You should get a confirmation email after the order is placed.

Apparently it takes about 60 days to actually get the money, but if you were okay with spending the $1299 in the first place, it's no big deal.

Slickdeals.net has better information on how to redeem the live cashback, I just gave you the short version.

    NOPE!!!

Got one and posted here. I've spent the last month or two stalking the refurbished 7811...literally bookmarking the item page on Tiger Direct and CompUSA's website and checking it a few times a day. I was thinking hard about going with the refurbished 6860FX when I checked the 7811 link ONE...LAST...TIME...haha.

Ordered one and then tried to get as many people here in on the deal as I could. They sold out as fast as they usually do...1-2 hours later, probably 90 pct of them went to some Ebayer who'll resell them for $1k.

Now what to do with the 6864FX I just picked up used...might keep that one too, since it's a great computer and easier to travel with.
