so i just got my 7811...and i'm quite fond of it....tried a few games (crysis, dead space), and so far everything works great...anyways, I did a 3dmark06 test, and got a score of 8418, at 1280 x 1024. from what I gather, thats an average score for the 7811...right? well anyways, anytips for getting the most out of my lappy? how well does it handle overclocking? any performance boosting drivers i should be aware of?

That sounds about right. A few tweaks that you can do is to upgrade your driver (to Xfastest 177.85 or Dox 178.24; these two are supposedly the fastest out there), install Physx, and do a steady OC of the GPU using Ntune or Rivatuner. I'm using the Dox 178.24 and OCing with Ntune @ 720/1005/1860 with 3DMark of 9,653.

8418 is a very typical out-of-box score. I use Dox 178.24 and that gives a bump of about 350.

Look here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=265740 for info on how to update drivers. It also contains links to the physx driver and the NVidia Tools with ESA support.

I'm testing out the Dox 180.43 (recently released, has some new mods in the Nvidia control panel).

Dont bother with those drivers they perform pretty badly. Get the Xfastest 177.85 they rock on everything . i always test all the new releases and IMHO these are the drivers to have.

After you've installed the Nvidia tools with ESA Support, start the performance monitor and make sure you enable the gpu temp and clock monitors. The 9800 in the 7811 OC's quite nicely. You should be able to bump all the clocks (core, memory and shader) by 100MHz no problem. In my experience, I can bump by 100MHz with no change in max temperature. Other's here have bumped their clocks much higher. Play around with it. You don't have to search very far to see what speeds some other folks on this forum are using.

Isn't it above the "down" button? :D

Daedric, what driver and clock settings are you using?

Quad, I've tried almost all the drivers out there and have been using Xfastest for the longest time. However, the Dox driver 178.24 works best for me, so your comment was unnecessary. Sure, the Xfastest works best for most people, but let them try out the new drivers too.

Oh cool, that's good to hear. Was the Dox 178.24 driver better for you than the Xfastest 177.85? Also, those clocks are from E-wrecked, not me, so rep to him :)
