I have a Gateway ID49CO1H with a Nvidia Geforce GT 320M. My laptop has been shutting off by itself after a few minutes of gaming so I suspected it was a overheating problem. The CPU temps were fine (around 60-70 degrees) but the GPU temp was around 85 degrees +. I suspected that the GPU was the problem so I replaced the thermal pasting for the GPU and CPU (might as well) with arctic silver 5. When I loaded up the game again, it lasted a lil longer but eventually crashed again. If it's not the thermal paste, what can be the reason for it to overheat?

How blocked are your vent ports? And when was the last time you did a dissemble and dusting of the innards? Sounds like either the thermal paste is no longer working and need redoing or worse a dreaded DEAD GPU. But if cleaning out the dust bunnies and redoing thermal paste doesn't work. That would mean your GPU is no longer working and has caused separation with the board and will have to be reballed to make it work again.
