I can't hear any sound through my headphones now after I re-installed windows. Even when I plug my phones in the jack........the audio still plays out of the speakers

I've never had to do so much to get a laptop working. However, the game still freezes during gameplay. I think I got it this time but i am not sure because the audio isn't working through my headphones.

btw, I think I've tried every driver possible for the freezing gameplay lol

I can't wait til my 1730 comes back!

Sure you're using the right jack? It's the one closest to the Firewire port, quite counter-intuitive if you ask me, and the little icons are impossible to see...

Regarding headphones, it sounds like a driver/Vista sound setting problem since the OP reported that it was working before the clean install.

Have you checked the Advanced Sound Settings in Vista?

Regarding the freezing, it definitely seems to be either a heat problem (which makes your laptop a lemon) or a drive problem.

I had the freezing issue, as did someone else. We both exchanged our laptops (do it before the 14 days are up), and the new ones are perfect.

    I highly recommend it.

My first 7811FX froze up in games within a few minutes... I went back to BB that same night and got a new one, haven't had any issues whatsoever since.

I think you got a lemon...

Also in regard to your audio problem, I noticed yesterday that when I disabled the Webcam software using MSCONFIG that my onboard mic was also disabled. It is possible that when you did the clean install, if you did not reinstall that software your probably using the default Vista drivers which may be preventing your onboard audio from switching over to the headphones for output when you connect them.

Something to look into at least...

Im having problems wth my headphone jack 2, if im watching a movie and I inster them it doesnt work, have ot insert them first then open the movie and if pull them out while the movie is playing the computer does a super major slowdown and the movie moves at 4 fps. Meh I think ill have to install windws vista 64, and on the other hadrive xp 32 just so i can have everything work right.
