    Hello. I really need some help. I'm looking to purchase the gateway 4540gz offered by best buy. Details include
    centrino 715
    15" TFT w/ultra bright
    80 gig HD 5400RPM
    DVD +-/CD +- rw
    32 mb video ram
    512 mb memory (upgradable to 2 gig)
    5.5 lbs - battery life approx 4-5 hrs
    Cost = $1100

    I have not seen much review on gateway and am hoping this is not a bad sign. The price seems great for the options included. I will be using this notebook as a second computer (tired of fighting w/the kids for use time). It will be used for it's portability,wireless internet surfing,basic microsoft office programs (such as Excel and Word) and simple photo editing. Any input from you techies??? I'd appreciate it!

    Sounds like a good deal to me.
    It will do more than enough for your usage. And I think gateway is a pretty good brand. And since your're gonna get it from bestbuy, which customer service is pretty good.
    But maybe you could like to wait a little longer since there will be lots of new notebook coming next week(month) from different companies.

    Peace out.

    I bought my 7405GX from Best Buy. I am happy with the purchase. Buying from Best Buy is a good experience. Been reading the discussion board and I have no buyerÂ’s remorse, and the deal I received was fair. Keep in mind if you buy from Best Buy then there is no 1-800 tech support at Gateway. And from what I hear the 1-800 is going to get phased out completely for all sales. Free Internet tech support and $3.00 per min non tech assistance. Buying on line means no tax sometimes and 1-800 service. Also I read in the forum that buying the service plan at Best Buy is a big waste of money. Do your buying research if you have the time, and I would say 4540 from Best Buy should be worth it.
