According to this, which I found with a google search, no one had been able to get the mic working in XP. You really should have just stuck with Vista. It works beautifully on these machines.
-
i saw that and it wont work
i dont why its dosent make any sense -
Because the laptop was not designed for XP and neither were the drivers.
-
Probably best to just reinstall Vista.

i would keep it if it had business or ultimate
will just buy a mike head set i guess -

i noticed its slower then ultimate i did some bench tests with another pc with home premium and wiped it out put ultimate and compared the two and it seemed ultimate ran faster maybe it just me... -

no home premium cannot be controlled by another pc it can however control other pcs
yeah figured the ultimate thing was just me
there is no built in restore image option either.. -
LOL@garbage. How funny. You DO realize there are about 68 bajillion remote PC control programs as well as backup programs, correct? Most of which are free.

all that does is just back up your files and doesn't create VHDs like business and ultimate so basically it cant image the machine in VHD format
plus remote desktop connection is beyond crippled
next time do a little research before posting
i know i prolly sound like a jerk
but lately vista been giving me a headache so i putting it on my second hdd -

and i also stated there is no functional rdp! (well there is a hack) you most likely have no clue what rdp is
its obvious you don't know what your talking about
there is no good free backup software the only good ones which costs are ghost and acronis and the built in vista one
iam not screwing up my pc...i just need to find a driver for the mike or maybe i am just doing something wrong enabling it -

There isn't a XP driver for the mic. Not one supported by gateway anyway. There a very slim chance you might find one made by private user, but there is a slim chance there. And how is that the the computer can't be controlled by another one? If you are allowing remote access you are allowing someone to remotely access your computer. This sounds like what you want. That's what I always though RDP was.
And for disk cloning type stuff check here: http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/backupandimage.shtml -
