hey blessim, i too have the 7426GX (awesome laptop), i use DVD Decrypter , it's a free file download, just google it. Once it is installed, start the program with the DVD you wanna copy, select MODE -> ISO -> READ, then click the little icon at the bottom, then to copy it, put in a blank DVD, go back to DVD DEcrypter program, select MODE -> ISO -> WRITE and click the same icon at the bottom, make a folder on your desktop where you know where the ISO you ripped is for easy selection.

To use the enclosed NERO program that comes with our laptop, just pop in the DVD, select NERO from the pop up window, then select COPY, BUTyou may not be able to use many DVD's as it will not make a copy of copywrited movies etc (that's why you should use DVD Decrypter) but for making just data DVD's it's fine, just start the NERO and drag+drop the files into the window that will open up. If you have any more questions, just email me: [email protected] , Cheers :)

in case you did not receive my email, the majority of set-top (stand alone) dvd players are most compatible with the DVD- format. Although i have made perfect copies with my 7426GX in DVD+ and they played fine in my Playstation 2, and Xbox. So perhaps it might just be that your DVD player is showing it's age as mostly older players cannot read from the DVD+. Cheers.

    1. Download “Nero” , “DVD Decrypter” , “VOB Blanker” and “DVD Shrink”
    2. Install Nero, DVD Decrypter, VOB Blanker and DVD Shrink
    3. Insert pressed DVD into DVD Drive
    4. Open DVD Decrypter
    5. Click The Folder button and select a Folder to rip a copy of the DVD to (IE: C:\DVD_RIP”)
    6. Once the folder is selected, click on the Decrypt Button (Image of a DVD pointing to HDD)
    7. Once Decrypter has finished copying your DVD close Decrypter
    8. Open VOB Blanker and load the Video_TS.IFO File from the Ripped image (IE: “C:\DVD_RIP\VIDEO_TS.IFO”)
    9. Click on Blank at the top and click on “Auto” this will blank all the extras so they are not taking up room on your burned copy to maximize the main movie quality
    10. *Optional* (For Adv. Users) open the Menu of the DVD and scroll thru the cells until you find the Advertisements, Spam, FBI Warnings, Content rating, etc and blank those too to circumvent annoyances
    11. Once you are done blanking all the non essential material on the DVD click on the Browse button under Output folder, select a location and create a folder to copy the processed dvd copy to. It is best to copy to another HDD. (IE: “D:\DVD_BLANKED”)
    12. Once VOB Blanker has completed, Close VOB Blanker and Open DVD Shrink
    13. Click the Open Files at the top
    14. In the “Browse to Folder” window select the folder where you copied the DVD to on your HDD and click ok
    15. Once DVD Shrink has analyzed the DVD image click on Backup
    16. Select a NEW folder where you want to copy the Shrunken DVD image (IE: “C:\DVD_BURN”)
    17. once DVD Shrink has completed Shrinking the DVD image close DVD Shrink and open Nero
    18. Under the “New Compliation” window click on “DVD Video”
    19. Click on the “label” Tab and title the project accordingly
    20. Select the files that were shrunk by DVD shrink (Audio_TS and Video_TS Folders)
    21. Click Burn to complete the copy
    22. Now you have a High quality copy with out all the Prohibited User Operations (PuOPs), FBI Warnings, Spam and Advertisements. Just the Menu’s and the Main movie.

EDIT: it wont matter if you use +R or -R if you burn the movie file as a DVD-ROM
