You did not mention which motherboard you would be used? If it is Intel Board.Gohead www.intel.com. Select your Motherboard. And you took the Bios update option. But most probably you dont update your bios. It will be create some problems.

Why do you need to update your BIOS? Is something wrong with the machine?

If you have the 68xx series and nothing is wrong i would recommend against flashing new bios. All 3 versions (or maybe 4) that were released were very stable and had no problems.

So basically if you dont have to touch your BIOS i recommend against it

searched for my model downloaded the flash update drivers , double clicked on it , i heard the fan speed reaching its maximum while flashing took about 1 or 2 mins then the computer restarted i am done :), i think other laptops will be also easy

What are your temperatures reaching? I agree, don't flash unless there is something u need out of it.

Have you updated you video drivers? cleaned your vents? propped up the back of your laptop? use your computer on hard flat surface like a desk (not carpet or bed)? all of these should help with heating issues and dont' require a bios flash...

Download and run HWMoniter from CPUID it will tell you your temps.

What clocks are you running on your Vid card?

Also when was the last time it was cleaned?

just want to ask why not to flash bios? its pretty simple with winflash or other ways.. i flashed my desktop a lot. does flashing on gateways increase risk of bios problems or what?

Try a deep clean. Alot of times dust will get in your fans or right around them to cause the heating issue. As to drivers... any of them are good usually. I use 180.70 if i use windows (haven't used windows since the new batch have came out)

It really does sound more like something is just now quite clean. Take off your bottom covers if you have to to really get a good cleaning. Also q-tips to help get around the fans.

One reason is our BIOS chip is soldered to the board so if you brick it, its dead. There is a recovery method, but its a PITA to make activate and it doesn't always work. But mostly its just an unnecessary risk. The 68xx series BIOS were basically perfectly stable (all of the versions) and none of them gave you anything over the others except they were just revisions (one gave VT, but that's pretty much a nonissue for most) Why risk corrupting something with out need to. Its not going to increase performance, so largely its just a waste of effort

So no there's nothing inherently wrong or worrisome about flashing your BIOS, its just something not worth it because it gives you no real gains for the possible risk
