i just bought the 1440x900 version of gateway fx 7805u if that makes any difference. from best buy!

my laptop has been running fine for normal tasks, but i want to make sure NOTHING is wrong with my system within 2 weeks.

i want to know specific ways to test the video card, and the heating issues, or ANY problems.

7805u owners, please post ways to check my system for ANY ERRORS of ANY KIND.
    thank you!
hopefully, this will also help new buyers to check for system defects too!

Run Prime95 (64bit version) for a few hours while running 3Dmark06, installing a few programs, playing some games (COD4 works really well or Crysis/GTA4). Note, you won't have top performance because of all the crap running in the background, but if it doesn't lock up after 3 or so, you should be good.

Things that I would do before hand, uninstall all the crap I can and update important driver (video/sound/chipset the big three, after that network stuff). This should help rule out bunked drivers.

I also used update DirectX, ran Memtest off a boot disc and ran 3Dmark Vantage Professional a couple times. Let a movie play in the background.

After that, I didn't have any lock ups and no errors reported on Prime95 (actually forgot that I had it running and had it run for quite some time and wondered why somethings were running sorta slow).

This sint much of a test but this what i did when i got mine.

Since people were getting alot of blue screens and freezes i played some game for hours to make sure everything was good and well it helped because it showed me that i could game for a long time without any problems. You also may want the new 9800gts drivers from Nvidia.com
