just received my replacement adapter and guess what....

well my new replacement adapter just got here yesterday...it looked different from the one i got with the system. unlike before my old adapter would hiss after a substantial amount of time playing games. but the replacement one doesnt. but the only game that ive tried with it is DOTA.will try to run assassins creed or company of heroes tonight.

it says on the label that it runs on 120W.not sure how much the stock ones is.

OT: item was delivered 5 days after the chat with gateway support. my NEIGHBOR received the item not knowing it wasnt HERS, she had it with her from 18 till 24. luckily i printed out the signature file off of FEDEX.com as a proof and banged on her door. LOL

 

I got the same one as a replacement. It is indeed different from the stock adapter and it does not hiss.

 

Last I checked, the stock one is 120 W as well.

 

Now I know why I haven't had the hissing problem. I was fortunate enough to get this adapter with my laptop.

 

That adapter came with my P6831 as well. I dont have that hissing problem but since i've been reading all these posts about it, I spoke to GW and I'm getting a replacement one as well... might as well have 2 PS just in case one eventually breaks down on me.

 

That's the same stock one I got with my 6860.

 

well i didnt...the original one i had didnt have the grooves/swirls on the side with the light. im glad this resolved my issue with the hissing proble,.

thats correct...good part was they didnt open it...dont know whats up but when they led me into the garage it was full of shipped boxes (unopened). and mine was in the whole bunch... didnt know that there was a tracking no. not until i chatted with a gateway rep....linked me a tracking no. and i found out mr. XXXX signed the package. was able to print out a signature (the one you scribble on from the ups guy).

 

My adapter hisses, but nothing critical. Though, if they let you keep the old one, perhaps I will call as well and complain. Better to be preemptive about failures...

 

My adapter has been hissing since I bought my computer in February but other than the slight annoyance it hasn't cause me any problems yet. Based on your pictures I'm almost certain my adapter is different.

- The green status light on my adapter is round not a curved rectangle (whatever the hell its really called lol)
- The Gateway sticker on the back of mine is not as wide. The right side on the back of mine states "Caution: For use with information technology equipment" which I don't see on yours.
- The top of mine isn't grooved as your replacement appears in the picture.

How much of a hassle was it to get a replacement one sent to you? I ask because I went through hell trying to get a replacement for the 2gb stick of ram (which was shipped faulty) in my 6831 before giving up and ordering 4gb from Newegg.

 

yah that sounded like my old one. and it hissed like hell when im gaming. new one doesnt do that anymore.

it was quite easy to get the replacement. they just ask you couple questions, anything that you tried to try to resolve it. just tell them u tried different wall sockets on different houses. the seller was too tell them that u heard about it on a forum that a lot of people are complaining about it. that should give them the option to send u a replacement. will ask you address and your done. and oh they let you keep the old one! so you got 1 for extra! great service IMO!!!

yeah it's very simple to do, they ask a couple questions, ask for ur address and done.

mine doesn't have any problems at all, I spoke with GW on the 17th and still haven't recieved it yet though they said it should arrive I'm 2-3 days, so I'm still waiting...

other than that, once I get my replacement I'll have 2, original in use now and one as a backup just in case

 

better check your neighbors! LOL. mine stayed with them for a week!

dude i swear...they got something going on in there.... imagine a garage that could fit maybe 2 SUV's like explorers except theyre full of UNOPENED boxes. and EVERYDAY i see ups,fedex,usps vans coming and going delivering stuff in!

 

sounds like an opening scene of a B movie, i say strike while they are not expecting it, soon it may be too late

ya know, i may just have to ask my neighbor cuz i have been expecting several packages off ebay and business packages as well for the past 3 weeks. still havent got any of my packages yet. usually i get all my packages delivered to my office but decided to start getting them delivered to my house cuz im always packing my car with boxes and didnt want to deal with loading and unloading anymore.

If indeed my neighbor does have all my packages, i might have to wtfpwn their asses

oh and mok, check to see if ur neighbor has any beer for me, i ran out and cant drive atm.

 

i did see a fridge on the garage though.LOL. ill go check tom. ill them my package containing my support briefs and herpes meds hasnt arrived yet. and i need them badly. . thatll put a strain on their faces.

 

lol tell em ur herpes is actin up, start crying outta control and tell them the only cure is for them to rub their faces on the outbreak haha

I just called up to get a replacement and its no problem. Apparently I have to send the old one back. Would've liked to had a backup but nothing I can do about it.
