I own a emachine M5313 that I must reinstall windows xp home and I have lost the oem disk. I contacted emachine support and was told my warranty expired and to call a user pay number. did that and was told to nothing they can do but I should contact microsoft for a new copy of windows xp home. Contacted microsoft buy have not heard back . Anybody got any ideas as to how I can get a copy of an oem disk.

For $30 american plus shipping and taxes to canada, they will send me an oem copy of windows xp home. I would really like an alternative to paying $30 .

There's really not much more you can do besides pay the 30 bucks... "legally".

You could borrow a OEM disk from someone else and use your product key.

If you want my personal opinion:

You pay for the Product Key not the software technically.

That's just my opinion which in no ways reflects the opinion of this website or it's other posters.

Finding drivers may be a *female dog* though. And watch it OEM Product Keys like to argue with Retail copies of windows and other OEMs....though there are legal work arounds.
