Well I am just wondering if anyone else has one because I do. It is a pretty nice laptop for the price but I am wondering if other people are having the same problem as me.

My problem is that when I close the laptop and put it in my case for travel the keys hit the screen and rub against it. The screen is permanently scratched with the pattern of the keyboard. Has anyone else had this problem did you have gateway warrant it or leave it as is.

I bought mine from Best Buy and am wondering if I should have them replace it. My dilemma is I am in a laptop program at my high school and if best buy tries to fix it I know it will take like a month to get back from them. And I know the same thing will happen again as I think it is a design problem (screen to close to keyboard). They have a no lemon policy so that means I will have to send it in 3 times before they give me a new laptop. Do you think it is worth the trouble or should I try and convince them at the store that it is indeed a problem with the design, so they will just trade my computer for a different one?

    Sorry for the long post.

i have this notebook and never really had this problem.. i'm not sure if this could be something, but you might consider that your laptop bag could be a little too constricting..

I would clean your screen according to the manufacturer's instructions. Sometimes the "permanent" marks end up being removeable, but certainly be cautious when applying any pressure to the LCD. Secondly, I would either keep the protective sheet that came with your laptop when it was shipped between the display and keyboard when you put your laptop in your bag. You can also purchase a nice leather one keyboard overlay to protect your screen from Other World Computing which I use for my PowerBook. Finally, be sure not to "stuff" your laptop between too much stuff in your bag.
