Does this notebook come with the hard-drive pre-partitioned by default? I had one where it wasnt, but the computer overheated, so I brought it back and got another one. This one has the hard drive split into a C and a D drive, one for "OS" and one for "DATA". The 500GB hard-drive is essentially divided in half between the two and I am wondering if Best Buy's Geek Squad gave me a pre-optimized computer without my knowledge. The first PC had just a C drive with all of the hard-drive capacity dedicated to that.
Thoughts and comments appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Its just a partitioned hdd. You can take it away, or use it. Well atleast your half way dual booting. My brothers acer aspire x3200 came with his hdd split in half two. I dont know why, its only like a 120GB hdd, so the partition was useless and I just took it out when i installed XP on it. The only downfall is if you fill the C:, you will have to start changing where you install things such as game to D:, because most applications automatically try to install into the C: directory.

Then I guess the question is why was the first one just C and the second one has a C and a D?

I dunno. I guess its just a random occurence. Maybe they decided to make the partition and store the recover stuff on the second half. Who knows.
