Can I install 8G RAM in P-7811 FX?
-
no, it is limited to 4gb

Hmm, strange, I always thought the IntelĀ® PM45 Chipset can take up to 8 gb (though there are only two slots would mean we have to wait for 4 gig bars to hit the shelves)...

I thought that the PM965 was limited to 6.8GB RAM and the PM45 had a higher maximum RAM limit. Am I correct?

The limitation could be simply the fact that there are not larger sticks currently available right now. As an example pretty much every external hard disk enclosure lists the currently available largest drive as the "max" capacity but they have no problem handling a larger drive when it does become available. I have an enclosure on my desk from last year. It says 500GB max on the box but I have a 1TB drive chugging along nicely in it.

You know what should be invented? a RAM splitter, takes one slot and converts it into two. That would be sick.
