My mt3705 laptop adaptor buzzes loudly and gets hot when it is charging. Is this normal? I dont think that it always did this and afraid it will shortcircuit. Appreciate comments from any laptop users, especially gateway.

Not good, both of you should call Gateway for in warranty replacement.

I don't think we will ever see Gateway on these forums, it would be very helpful, but I don't see them as a very forward looking company.

I live in Europe, so changing it in warranty is not easy for me :( Is it REALLY a big problem? The notebook is working without any problem
Is it enough if I buy another adapter for my P-6831FX with the same output voltage here in my country ?
Anyway it was buzzing since the first time I pluged in...I asked my dad who repairs car electronics and he sad that it isn't a problem.
Maybe I ask my cousin too who repairs all kinds of home electronics :) (but mainly multimedia electronics)

Wait, I should have asked how loud  All my adapters make a little buzzing or hum, that's normal. I was under the impression that yours was "buzzing loudly" as you stated, "same here".

Now, these things DO get hot under load, but normally just warm. As the OP stated, while charging, the adapter was "buzzing loudly" and gets hot. This is not good. None of my four adapters "buzz loudly", as in loud 2 feet away, while charging or gaming..yet.

Any 19VDC adapter at 120W+ will work IF the plug, polarity and voltage is correct. If your Dad can snag one at 150W but 19VDC, no problem. I replaced my 90W dell with the 150W adapter for OC and to keep the temperatures down.

Keep a copy of your email response from Gateway if you contact them.

I sometimes hear a buzzing on my power adapter, but it's very faint. I'll try and see how bad it is next time i hear it.

My power adapter buzzes slightly sometimes too, I got a new one from Gateway just today and it also buzzes slightly, just like the other one. I think it's the power draw, not a problem, unless it's consistently REALLY loud.

I just listened to it last night, and it happens when I shut down my laptop. Then, I will be able to hear the faint buzzing from the power adapter. Also, the power adapter get very warm- close to hot- while it is charging my laptop. I presume it is normal..

Yes, when charging/gaming these guys run hot. I wish GW gave us 140/150W adapters but that would have cost big bucks over a million units or whatever the production run. I'm guessing $2 more a unit, OEM?
