    mx3416 wont turn on

    Hi I have a gateway mx3416 with windows xp and it wont turn on. I have it plugged in with battery in and ac on all that happens is all the light below the mouse pad flash cd drive light stays then stops nothing. if i hard shut down with power button and try again it wont work i have to reset the ac adapter and try again. does the same with battery out and if battery is fully charged. All the times nothing on the screen and the hard drive spins up but does not read and it is on tested in a enclosure. Any thoughts into whats broke?

    My friend's laptop started doing the exact same thing a couple days ago. When I get home this evening, I'm going to try it with an external monitor and see if that makes any difference. Have you tried that yet?
