I bought a Gateway MX6436 new and it has been very dependable for me,although I have had several puzzling problems which have led me to spend lots of time searching the web. I hope that being in this forum might make it easier for me. I just installed a 1000 MB memory module and the speed increase was dramatic. So that was a pleasant success. Now I want ti upgrade my 80 GB hard drive, but I can.t find information about how large a hard drive I can install. I have read about BIOS limiting the size and all of that, none of which I understand. And the Gateway support website doesn't have the information,at least that I can find. Can someone tell me where I could look for this information. I figure it would probably be safe to install a 160 GB hard drive but a 320 GB would be better if this model will support that. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would not put anything larger than 120GB drive in this comp - system constraint more than anything else. Go with a 7200rpm if you can - this will help

    cheers ...
