I just purchased the mx7515 for 1500. I like the machine but I seem to be having problems with a few games. I am new to the computer scene so perhaps I am expecting a little too much from my laptop. Tiger Woods golf seems to be skipping a little and Fifa Soccer is very-very slow.

Is there something I need to know to improve these problems or is this as good as it gets?

    Thanks

    Jay Nathan

downloading catalyst drivers from ati or even omega drivers seem to be the best increase in performance. I can play lots of stuff on here, those games shouldnt have any problem unless you are maxing out the graphics on everything possible. also, are you playing while unplugged or not? Change your power management settings to "home/office" or "always on" to disable powernow and give you a constant 2.6ghz, rather than battery saving 800mhz. I hope you paid 1500 canadian.. because the 7515 is 1200 now at best buy in usa and being replaced by the 7525 that is 1350 this week and gives you 128 megs on board video and 256 with hypermemory, as well as media center edition... only difference.

I tried both the ati upgrade and the omega drivers. The omega bumped my 3DMark05 score to 1725 vs. 1690 with the ati drivers, but the omega drivers also gave me playback issues with dvd. FYI, before upgrading to the "latest" ati drivers, 3DMark05 was 1580.

    Thanks a bunch,

I will try your advice. I hope you are right because three or four so called "computer geniuses" I know, highly recomended this machine. I really want it to work as well as they said it would. First I will check the power management, if there is no improvement I will move on to the drivers you recomended.

    Thanks again.

    P.S. $1,500 Cdn. Phew.

Forgot to mention, I have the 7525, not 7515. Only difference being 128M vs. 64M onboard vram and Win MCE. Got it for a steal at U$1,199 after $150 instant rebate at BB a couple of weeks ago. Only complaint is it runs really hot, but a chill mat fixed that.
