    i know the only thing wrong with it is the charge port if im reading correctly this is a part that can be replaced seperatly from the whole mobo? Gateway P-7908U 48.4V602.011 power jack usb board [2059000014]- US$34.26 - www.ThingsMall.com
    and the standard screen resolution is 1200x900?
    outside of adding a sata 2 (this mobo is not sata 6.0 gb/s compatible?)ssd what are my upgrade options for CPU and screen/monitor for an hd level picture quality that is compatible with this model and regarding cooling what are my options/recomended for improved cooling for mid level gaming for a few hours at a time .thank you in advance for your time and consideration any help in this is greatly apprecited

    Ok, if you are strictly a gamer there are a few things.

    1.) be sure the charger board is your only issue, if so easy and cheap fix.
    2.) you will want to do a full tear down clean and reassemble.

    With this that can be added;
    1.) CPU for gaming a C2D is fine but go either T9900 or x9100. Running at 3.06 GHz or above will be fine for gaming.
    2.) Get ICD TIM for both the CPU and GPU.
    3.) you can put in up to a BR DVD burner with SATA interface.
    4.) durring normal usage most SATA III SSD drives will not saturate a SATA II interface so don't worry about that too much. ALL SATA IIIdrives should be backwards compatible.
    5.) 8GB ram 2x4GB is the highest amount of ram.
    6.) A targus 180w brick, the with the x9100 or T9900 and full out gaming will overstress the 120w stock brick. Especially as an SSD can keep a CPU super busy when opeing and closing stuff.
    7.) Get a decent laptop cooler to at least keep good airflow.

    About all I can think of for now other than the 260m, especially with a mild OC, will keep the 1440x900 screen at decent FPS.

    Edit; sorry people hunting and packing with the left hand only, ton's more errors than usual..........

    "About all I can think of for now other than the 260m" thank you for your reply and help can the fx be upgraded to a 260m? also because for a total cost (actual out of pocket to me) for both an x9100 for $123 ssd 120gb for primary slot $150-200 and a 260m $189 around $500 or so to have a decent gaming level laptop i think thats a fair price to pay the charge port another $20 charger brick $18 it should bee enough for me for a few years for around $500
