The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    not sure where to put this, declining hardrive space!

    so, i recently received a new laptop for christmas (m-6882h or 6883u), and i notice that every day i seem to have less and less hard drive capacity left. in my computer it says i have up to 288 gb of hard drive to use, yet apparently 100gb has already been used. i have downloaded less that a gig of music, and some games that would total around 25 gigs, but i have since deleted the movies and games downloaded or moved them to a dvd and deleted them. any ideas where my hard drive space is going?

    make sure you use a good defragger like PerfectDisk by Raxco or Diskeeper

    Try disabling shadow copies seeing as they really do nothing... and I havnt used system restore ever.... so i turned that off too

    that, and system hibernation takes up quite a lot too.
