I am in the market for one.
Honestly, I REALLY don't want to spend the money for a zaleman 1000 or 2000.
So, I'm asking what are you guys using, if you are at all?
could you also post some before and after temperatures.

Targus ChillMat, old generation (the smaller, thin one)
3-5 degrees, depending on season. -
Just bought myself a Targus Chill Hub and mouse combo. I have only noticed a small GPU temperature decrease (Peaks at 65 degrees). I find it a bit small for the P-6831FX, you have to either put the fan on the GPU fan vent or the CPU fan vent, so I may decide to return it.

i was looking on one a dell where the fans are right under my laptops fans..

I am looking at the Cooler Master NotePal Infinite, now. For $30, it doesn't seem that bad from the review done by Johnny T.

actually i might get that one. cools down the whole back side of the laptop...

I use the pacific breeze cooler. You can't find it anywhere now though. Great little cheap cooler.
-
Just ordered a ZALMAN|ZM-NC1000 at newegg. 13.00 instant savings on it.
-
Not to burst your bubble or anything but the NC1000 will not fit a P-6831FX. The dimensions of the NC1000 is 308(L) x 330(W) x 40(H) mm while the notebook is 33-43mm (H) x 400mm (W) x 298mm (L). The cooler is long enough, but not wide enough.

lol and plus it's too $$ for me. lol. I'm thinking of the cooler master infinite.

I use my household A/C for the most part. If you keep it around 60-62 in the house, it really does work!
-
Cooler master infinite eh, I wonder if it'll hold the 6831. A lot of these coolers are made with 15" in mind so far. Hope they get with the times! Ultra portables don't need cooling!

I use the Lian Li Nc-02B
fits the unit very well, its all alluminum and very high quaility build. BlACK! so it matches the Laptop.
The fans are adjustable and replacable, and it is powered through a USB cord which takes one of the only 2 ports. But nothing a USB hub wont fix.
Its sits on the desk at a angle for good ergonimics. Only downfall i can see with the designs is because of the shape it might be a bit harder to get into a Laptop breifcase/bag

could you post up some before and after temperatures. How much does it lower it by? -

I've been looking at a few different coolers for my 6831FX, but have not found any that have a good match to the cooling zones. I wonder if any owners of coolers would be kind enough to post some reference pics or comment on the effectivness. Here's the bottom of the 6831:
I didn't bother tying in the dimensions in the pic, but the tape is metric/std and accurate from the front of the lapptop.
Thanks,

What I sugguest is to get a cooler that cools the whole bottom of the laptop, one such as a Cooler Master NotePal Infinite and Zalman NC-2000. Would save a lot time a frustration than going about finding one with 2 fans exactly on the CPU and GPU fan.
-
That's not exactly what I was asking for, as it is obvious that finding two fans lining up perfectly is improbable. I was just concerened with airflow over those peticular zones. i.e. one brand might be better suited for CPU cooling, another GPU cooling, etc.. Giving forum readers an educated look at different brands/models. I for instance, don't GPU o/c this laptop and cpu o/c is not yet possible, I have concerns with my HD temps; and since there is no active cooling active airflow from a cooler would be of value. The Zalman NC2K appears to provide that, but does not appear to do the same for the CPU/GPU area, but that is where maybe a comarison picture might come in handy.

http://www.futurelooks.com/?m=show&id=159 I picked up this one (Coolermaster Notepal). 1st thing to note is that, front to back on the laptop it's too short, and the center of gravity is about over top of the swivel point. I keep my lappy against a wall, though. In terms of fan placement, they're not directly over top of the lappy's fans, but they're along the same axis, which is not bad. It's allso really ergonomically nice, as it raises the monitor and angles the keyboard.
