hey guys, i have been offered a used but working ocz core 64gb ssd drive, but its the first version, its nearly a year old.

would u guy recomend i get it or is it work just saving up for a better one, i will upgrade it later but its just as a primary drive, programs and os.

ive hear it has the crap jmicron chip in it and its unpredictable with juttery performace, but i have seen there is a few guids to make it work smoothly.

a quick answer would be kl, i only have till tomorrow

    oh its 90 quid

You can overcome the stuttering with zflashpoint accelerator. Though I would suggest you wait a week or two for the $230US 80GB Intel X25-M as shown here. It will run rings around the OCZ Core's perforamnce.

No point in comparing to a core or even thinking about a core. Get at least a Vertex or other drive that supports trim. Invest into the future, not the past.

Gen2 drives that don't support trim are dieing off quickly as users are seeing the writes slow down from use.

Honestly... no. I will never recommend a jmicron controlled SSD, they can be decent, but if you ever hit the stuttering you are going to REALLY regret the drive.

Edit: Whoop, I didn't see that you had to PAY for it sorry. 90 quid is between 150.00 and 200.00 I think? For FREE or really cheap it would be a good deal as a secondary drive, for that money - no way. You can get far better.
