hello all new member here, i have been using these threads for quite some time now when it came to problems with my 6860fx but recently i have a new dilema i have not seen brought up on the forums.

after a short party a few days ago i awoke to see my laptop not working! the laptop is only used plugged into an ac adapter and the battery is long gone. when plugged into the ac adapter light on the power button aswell as a red led for the battery will constantly blink, the device will start with no backlight or ability to use the keyboard, i can still use hdmi output and a usb keyboard to login in to the computer but shortly after boot up the laptop will shut off. at first i thought it was a dust/fan issue, but i have cleaned the whole computer and it still will not operate properly..

any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advanced, azn.

Not sure, maybe the GPU? It is a P6860, there are threads on the GPU failing to to bad soidering. You could try to find a cheap Mother board on feabay.

Hmm, since you were able to use an external monitor, I'd say the GPU is ok for the moment, but maybe it is indeed failing, or overheating (does the GPU fan spin?). That's just the way mine died, but mine died completely, no external monitor or nothing would work. I tried baking it to no avail.
