I know this has been discussed in other threads but all of the posts are scattered and a pain to find. Please post the name of your case/bag that fits the 7805u.

I've been eyeing that up; how does the 7805 fit? Snug? Plenty of room? How much room for other stuff is there?

Same here - I checked it out at Staples and though it looks like it has a lot of room - it didn't seem like it had a lot of padding. Maverick - does the padding seem adequate when the laptop is in it?

Nope it doesn't at all.. I had that bag and returned it b/c the padding was terrible... I'm still shopping around for a new bag.. in fact on my flight back from orlando to pittsburgh i left the laptop and that bag on my lap the whole time b/c i was terrified of wat would happen if someone threw something on top of it.

    Targus XL 17" "attache" style:
    http://www.nothingbutsoftware.com/catalog_type.asp?ProductCode=35792&ai=1550
There's a discount coupon floating around out there for another 10% off and these guys shipped QUICK. Plenty of room in the main compartment for the laptop itself with battery and tons of pockets flaps etc to hold the charger, mice, and what have you that you'll want to take along with you.

I picked up the Targus CityGear Messenger Style bag. I spend much of my day running from place to place so I needed something that was easy to throw on my back and go!

    http://www.amazon.com/Targus-TCG200-CityGear-Messenger-Notebook/dp/B00024ENHK

It fits the laptop to a "T" not to much room to slide around and not snug that its hard to get in and out.

The bag also has a front pouch that flips down with plenty of room for mouse, wireless broadband and such, there is even a little zipper on the outside of the bag that when opened releases a mesh water bottle holder.

The shoulder strap is awesome, not only is the shoulder pad thick for comfort , but the pad is also stitched in place so it won't move around. The strap is adjustable on both sides, so you can make it even at your side or over the shoulder on your back and still keep the pad where you want it.

All in all it seems to work very well and would recommend it for anyone with an active lifesyle.

I pricematched it to a officedepot for 50 then threw on a 10% coupon. It fits like a glove and it's smaller than a lot of other 17" cases. Highly recommended because it even has a lifetime warranty.

    $29.95.

Not for those needing anything professional looking. It's sturdy, light, and securely holds the FX w/ plenty of room to spare for accessories, books, etc. Comes in multiple colors and, for whatever reason, also has a built in beer/soda bottle opener.

Like i said its a decent case. Snug i should say and i liked it coz its light weight and has enuf room for accessories that people usually carry around. This one's my first laptop and i dont plan to carry this laptop around too much. I'll be travelling in 2days to the Middle East will let you know if i find people whose gonna drop stuffs on top of my laptop. lol. Its got decent padding and who wud want to carry 4lbs case on top the 9lbs laptop with the extra padding.

Amazon has it for like $35 and free shipping which is a good deal - I'll probably go with that and maybe a sleeve or something for some extra padding.

Make sure the extra padding's not gonna cramp the laptop in its compartment. The amazon deal's worth. Mine came to around 48$ including taxes.

From the looks of it, I was afraid it wouldn't have enough, but it seems to have the standard level of padding, or close to it.

I sure wouldn't say it has a *lot* of padding - and I actually don't know what the "standard" level is - but it did have the same amount of padding as the laptop backpack that's served me for the past 4 years had; and for me, that's enough (though I'd prefer a bit more).

Fwiw, one reviewer said he expected more padding, while another said it had a good level, so I guess it depends on your specific tastes (though I doubt it would have a 5 star average among 11 reviews if it had what most would consider to be a horribly lacking level of padding).

It's roomy, so if one wanted to get a notebook sleeve to add more padding, there would probably be room. (The velcro band that secures the padded back lining of the interior to the padded front of the laptop pouch, within which the laptop sits, is made of stretchy material that should be able to be stretched over the top of the sleeve. And the pouch itself should be big enough too.)

Im pretty sure its the same chassis and yeah it fits with the 9-cell. There is extra padding on the bottom in the laptop compartment so it fits a little snug because of the battery, but im overall very impressed with the bag.

I got the Ibex Swiss Gear backpack at BB with my 7805.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8483036&st=ibex&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1186003258092

The specs say it fits a 16" height laptop, which the 7805 is 15.75". Well, the 7805u BARELY fits inside. Its edges are at the very edge of the backpack lip, right at the zipper. It can just zip closed, but the laptop is on the padding top, instead of under/in the padding. :( I am going to return this and see what else I can find.

    -edit-

Returned the Swiss gear and got the Targus City backpack on sale. MUCH better fit for the 7805u, even with the battery installed. :)

    just received the Slappa:

    • Ballistix PTAC Matrix Laptop Shoulder Bag
    • Ballistix PTAC Matrix Laptop Sleeve (17")
    • Shoulder Strap Accessory - Black

    Slappa offers:
    • free shipping > $99
    • 10% off everything sale
    • buy 3 and get another 15% off
and use "gadgeteer" coupon to get another 10% off

really impressed with the quality...bag is huge and will fit P-7805u w/battery...sleeve also fits P-7805u w/battery but zipper will not close around the extended part of the battery...

bought it after I saw a video review on youtube...

I just picked up my new p-7805u and other than the weight, size and noise... it's perfect! I have had a HP DV900 17" for a few years and have been using a Samsonite case I picked up at Staples for $50. (Nice professional look!)
The 7805 fits in it with the battery still attached but its pretty snug and not as well protected as the HP was but it still works pretty good. Look into it and judge for yourself, its a very durable well made bag.

I think the CityGear Miami is going to be my bag of choice due to its large amount of places to put your gear and the excellent place.

Is there any issue with the bag with the battery attach or does it fit snug?

I purchased the Skooba Shuttle from Amazon for 100 bucks and free shipping. Absolutely love it as it doesn't look like a laptop bag at all and fits the P-7805U perfectly in its well padded sleeve without the battery though. There are additional mesh pockets in the laptop compartment to hold mouse, battery, power, etc. This thing is also very comfortable to carry even when weighed down with lots of stuff.

I travel a lot and don't much like pulling my laptop out of the bag for TSA and everyone else to see, so I also purchsed a neopreen sleeve from Amazon for 10 bucks plus shipping. It fits the laptop perfectly and isn't a pain to get the laptop in and out like the Built neoprene sleeves and still fits in the Skooba with it on the laptop! Big plus - has no zippers, buttons or velcro to scratch my laptop.

I've flown twice with it now and the Skooba is a tight fit under the seat (but does fit) so I just put it in the overhead. This lappy is way to big to use on the plane anyway so don't need access to it while flying.

Word of warning though, I thought the orange would match well with the laptop but it is a bit on the bright side. The other choices were a bright blue or red. The color choices are the only drawback though and maybe the spendy price, but it's well worth it. Very well built backpack.

I have a great Targus bag I use, but Best Buy no longer carries it. I'm looking for a sleeve. I bought one from Staples today but it doesn't even come close to fitting - despite being for 17" laptops. Our laptop is pretty big - especially with the batter.

Anyone have a sleeve (just a sleeve - no handles, pouches, etc) that fits?

I used mine last week for a business trip to Chicago and I was able to fit (2) laptops in it. I had to turn in my work laptop on Monday to be updated and didn't want to be without a computer for the week. This backpack was perfect!

There's some messenger/attache bags that aren't too bad. The Targus XL has a HUGE carry strap with an even bigger padded area, I didn't find the laptop to be a strain at all. I'm sure in my old Samsonite bag that just had a little rubber slider pad thing on it that this thing would kill my shoulder, but the targus strap is huge and the pad is built in.

Just wondering how the sleeve stays closed without zippers, buttons, or velcro since I have also been considering buying that.

I was also wondering if anyone here has the Microsoft Notebook Sleeve ( http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-17-Neoprene-Laptop-Sleeve/dp/B000OY71MM/ref=pd_sbs_e_5) since in the Amazon reviews some people say it fits their Gateway FX while others say it doesn't.

Same question about the Belkin sleeve: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Neoprene-Notebook-17-Inch-F8N049-BR/dp/B000S5CXMK/ref=pd_sbs_e_2

    Thanks!

I ended up getting this backpack and I must say this thing is a beast.
I can carry my laptop, accessories, a book/magazine, 1 extra day's clothes (if I'm making a short travel), and more.

Or If I'm making a few day travel and I don't need my laptop. I can put in like 2-3 day's worth of clothes in there, and extra things. I mean the space is ridiculous. The only con is that if I want to put the laptop in the laptop "sleeve" I have to take the battery out. No big deal though.

I've been using this Targus bag for 8 months now, carries my P7811-FX and acceossories, Canon Xs1, 3 lenses and accessories, Canon HG10 and accessories, and my computer tools and testing equipment without problem......except when I ask my wife to pick it up (it weighs about 50lbs).
