waaaaa!! my p 6860 shoking me whit elecrticity whyyy???when i touch the part up of the gears of war stiker it give me a electricity shock!!!, somewhere else have the same problem?
sorry for my bad english
-
-
Static electricity, probably. Wouldn't the easy solution be to just take the sticker off?
I'd replace it with a fuzzy sticker. Or a smelly one. -
Calm down.
I assume you are getting shocked by your GOW sticker?
Seeing as to how the P6860FX uses a plastic chassis, it would seem highly unlikely that it's shocking you, it might very well be static electricity. -
sorry for threadcapping but how do you remove the sticker anyway?? dont wanna take it off and leave some residue on the palmrest.
-
Since the palmrest is shiny and smooth, the sticker comes off very easily with little to no residue. Just pull it slowly.
-
on 2nd thought scrap it...just occured to me that the sticker helps by preventing fading of palmrest
-
the stiker is of paper, the paper dont conduc electricity and not is static electricity because every time when i touch this part shock me
-
I took mine off as soon as I got it... don't need some ugly GOW dude staring at me all the time... looks MUCH better without it IMHO. It comes off really easy too... not too sticky, whatever residue is left can be rubbed off with your finger and then shined up real nice
-
Well, I just took my sticker off after reading this thread. Looks much classier...
-
arent you guys worried with palmrest fading?hehe
-
I thought about that, however, with the clearcoat protecting the actual paint on the 68xx's, I'm not so sure the palmrest will fade. Its not like the older mx series gateways where the palmrest faded after one days use.
-
haha.... no. Most of the time I'm using my Eclipse II keyboard anyways. But even if I wasn't.... no I wouldn't be
-
Its a new gaming feature called shock feedback.
Other than that, youre notebook isnt properly grounded. Do you have a 3 prong adapter? -
My laptop has a 3 pronged adapter, and I am sure that the little metal orange band keeps shocking me. Nothing serious, but can be annoying at times..
-
HEEE!!! HEEEE!!1 I'M NOT LAYING!!!! HE IS THE EVIDENCE
-
Vote for most annoying post of the day.
-
off topic ****
kgann can you check if your powermizer is working, gpu clocks down when idle ?
10x -
If it be some kind of short circuit, the shocking can be reproduced easier (lol).
If it is ESD then it would be smart to ground yourself before touching the notebook, or the problems will get bigger.
Prolonging the threadjumping (i have to ask!):
when the sticker is easily removed, is it still useable? It what condition is it? I want to remove the sticker too. -
Not good... mine had lot's of white on it... looked like it had been rolled up, although it had just been peeled. If you're planning on using it again, I don't think you could, at least I wouldn't have wanted to use mine.
-
Just got a shock from mine! No big deal, my chair sits on a plastic mat and I must have built-up a static charge.
I don't see how the 3rd prong (ground) on the AC cord could help as the power supply has no direct connection to it on the DC side. At least not on the P/S I've tested anyway... -
Checked many times, using 177.66 with the nvac.inf trick Freddy wrote, I have seen no downclocking whatsoever. Are you having problems?
-
off topic again**********
no no just curious,
you know that by default the GPU down clock if you are not using 3d intensive applications?
i was just wandering if using that "nvac.inf" changes that behavior, i am sure there are no down clocking during games, otherwise you wouldn't get that 3dmark leap -
Because with a 2 prong adapter, the computer chassis is usually used as the ground, and with some case designs, shocking was a known problem (i.e. not very much insulation between it and the outside world or exposed metal parts).
-
yea mine has shocked me many times.. But I get shocked on the actual metal surface where the media centre buttons are.. And it seems to happen very very often.. Weird thing is im on a 3 prog adapter .. No plastic underme, just hardwood floor or tile.. So whats the hell is going on?
-
the mine shoks me when i am whitout shoes
-
the rubber is probably shielding you.. Same concept as lightning hitting a car..
-
Right, Powermizer clocks it down in any 2D application. But, when using NTune to monitor clocks, anytime a 3D application opens, it jumps up to 500/800.
-
Gateway uses a three prong adapter. Looking at your brick with AC cord removed, the ground is the big pin. Now for the nuts part, the ground IS connected to the DC ground shield on your DC plug that plugs into the computer. You can check it with any VOM.
Anyone getting buzzes or shocks may want to check their ground circuit on their home AC wiring, it may be floating with a voltage on it. To check use an ground plug checker from Lowe's or hardware store or call an electrician. ($)
The P-68xx metal top media strip is connected to the above mentioned ground! -
kgann thanks,
if i understand correctly from your post it still behaves normally.
i guess ntune adds that powermizer option that is not in included in that nvac.inf -
everytime i read the title....cant help but laugh at it "6860 wants kill me" kinda like a horror movie title!!
-
are big shocks my lap really want kill me, i am using plastic
gloves for write this
sorry for my english
-
LOL ....
how about when using battery ? -
your wearing PLASTIC GLOVES just to surf the net on this thing? holy...sounds serious dude...if your still in your return period might as well exchange it rather than face the consequence later on
-
LOL. I'm sorry but this whole thread cracks me up! This guy is funny.
-
he cant return it, i think he is not in the states.
omg !!! i think my G5 is turning into a vampire....
no....... -
Speaking of G5, how much weight are you using on yours? I have mine maxed out and it STILL seems light. lol. Guess im weird.
-
mine is maxed out too
i would put more weight if i could -
K. just making sure I wasnt the only one. lol
-
certainly not the only one. my g9 feels light as hell. and i can't put any more weight in it either. 28 grams is the max weight for it...
-
28 ???
i got only 1.7x9=15.3gr
you lucky bastard
-
hey...it still feels light as hell. my weights are 4x4gr or 4x7gr. i love the mouse, and it slides really easily on my razer exactmat, but it doesnt have the weight to it that i like.
-
try changing to something like razer krait, which i use when on the go.
zero gravity is all i can think of. not a mouse its a bat. -
Wait, royk, you didnt get 4.5g weights?
-
wow thanks
i will switch immediately
lol -
heyyy i put out the batery and only let the ac adapter and no more super shocks!! yeahh thanks man
but why the batery make that? is strange
can some body gift a batery to me?
problem resovled -
may you long live and prosper
