This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    bought new hard drive and am trying to get xp onto it, everything seems to go well until it reboots. When the windows installation screen comes up I get a Data Error for "cyclic redundancy check". Cannot load files for the test. I notice that the rom drive makes a weird clicking noise during this check. Any help is much appreciated.
