no, if you call Gateway tech support this is actually what they are gonna tell you to do, reposition RAM and hard drive.

Inform Gateway/BB about your issue and get an approval to return it just in case you can't solve it yourself .

Try the above suggestions as well as monitoring the temps . It could be just a software issue with Vista , I'd try to restore to factory settings ( recovery ) and then see if you keep getting the bsod .

Good advice from Gilo, IMO. With a new machine under warranty, you shouldn't be expected to cope with much going wrong. Frankly, I wouldn't expend much effort trying to fix it, being impatient as I am. I expect new "stuff" to work properly. Were the machine my own, I'd take it back if reseating the RAM didn't solve the problem. Good luck.

So, let me gret this straight...

The machine only acts weird after installing software that you only refer to as "stuff", and you begin by blaming Gateway? Did you ever stop to think that it may be the POS Vista and your software acting up, rather than a (probably) perfectly functional machine? Of course not... rational thought is such a rarity these days..

    nice catch
:D i was wondering what vista had to do with a clean install not installing right??

easy enough for you to find out.
reboot laptop and hit f8 for for vista menu
    hit esc key
    tab once
    run windows memory diagnostic
and let us know what it turns up.
