Hi, this question may seem basic but I'm trying to configure RAID on this machine. Does the stock 6860 have RAID capability? The HD is 320GB but I am unsure if that is dual 160GB which would enable RAID. If RAID is possible, how do I go about enabling it? Just confused, thanks.

You have one 320gb HDD, so you'll have to buy another identical drive, your manual has a great section on RAID 0 setup, also you'll need to reinstall Vista during RAID setup.

In order to have RAID, you will need to buy another identical drive and install it in the second HD bay.

I don't think the MoBo/chipset supports? So what ever you get not hardware RAID. But I don't know so could be wrong on this.

No, the 6860, like the 6831, has built-in RAID support and its chipset supports RAID. You just might need to slipstream the drivers when installing windows though, which could be a pain.

No, you do not need to slipstream the drivers, Its hardware based. Just install two matching drives, turn on your lappy, press ctrl c I think (its in your manual) and follow the easy instructions, load your os and your done, thats it.

Yah, but in order for windows to actually see the drives, you will need to install chipset raid drivers (at least thats what i had to do when i installed win xp)....

XP yes, Vista no not really. It will use a generic one, then when you install the chipset drivers, it will load the raid drivers.

LoL, Gateway is now offering a P-172x fx raid or non-raid, same price.
