I'm shopping for a new backpack to go with my new 7805. Unfortunately, I'm not in a city with a tonne of gear shops to go poke about in and try for a fit to make sure "fits most 17 inch notebooks" really works with the 7805.

Anyone mind shouting out a few makes/models of backpacks that work with the 7805?

    Thanks!

I have a good suggestion, don't get a backpack, get a rolling case. This things alot more heavy then you realize, I've had a couple of bad back spasms because I carried this thing around longer then I should of that laid me up for some nice weekends (nice weather and nothing I could do). Since I have the roller I'm doing a lot better.

This is the one I got:

back spasms? good lord what did you pack into that back pack? i dont have any trouble what so ever carrying my 50 lb backpack around on my back all day. i dunno maybe its just me but i did used to carray a 60 lb backpack from home to school everyday for 4 yrs when in high school (i didnt like lockers lol) so that might be why but i always though that if you get a god backpack with great straps you can carry alot of weight without realizing how heavy it is. the targus backpack that was suggested above is the one i have and it fits the 7805u in the laptop space with battery and all with a little room to spare. i wont go into detail all the things i shove in that bag cause it would be very long but i am able to fit the laptop ps3 and 360 in the bag no problem with space for controllers and cables too.

if you need ots of space the targus backpack all the way but lots of people prefer messenger bags (in my opinion i think it looks like your carrying a big purse but that just me lol)

Yeah, a rolling case would be good, but that thing is $80. It doesn't look like you can carry it on your back either. If I was paying $80, I'd look for one that could roll and that had back straps. I don't know if those exist though. Basically, I wouldn't pay $80 for a pack. Then again, I'm 20 years old. When I'm 40 or 50, I'll probably have ditched this "I'll just carry everything on my back" attitude.

I know, what was with that? They gave me a tiny locker, 5 minutes to get between classes on 3 different floors, and tons of useless books.

    thanks for the suggestions!

regarding backpack vs rolling--i've lugged about my tools, dvd wallet, various cords/cables, and other crud in my Targus Matrix that holds my dell d620 for a few years with no problem to my back. in fact, back in high school i carried almost my entire locker on my back and other than the occasional spasm after yard work or "other" activities, it's fine.

really, i'm looking to slim down. i'm doing more system admin work these days so carrying about a 64 dvd wallet, a full "working" set of tools, yada yada isn't really as necessary as it was. not to mention, the matrix won't fit the Gateway.

    i'm kinda digging this one:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9285631&type=product&id=1218074557050

and one that is similar in style from mobile edge--just can't find the link right now.

pretty much, i just want to be able to put my notebook, the brick, *occasionally* my d620 and 7805 with some small stuff and call it good.

keep'em comin, i didn't know about that Targus City, which led to that Ogio.
