I've been experiencing major nvlddmkm problems. It keeps getting more frequent, its happening every minute, and now I have to run my machine on safe mode to use it. I scanned with Spybot and Bitdefender, found nothing. I changed drivers, still, nothing. I tried 185.26 and 179.48. It is a pain and I'm thinking to switching to XP 64-bit to end the problem, since I've read it has been a vista problem for years. If someone can tell me how to solve the problem, I will not switch back, but if no solution is found, I need those drivers. Please help!

I have exact same problem, however when i switched to XP, it became a new error. NV_4 disp. For me, having tried every fix possible, I think its a GPU issue in either the Vram or the GPU itself. I've been meaning to call in to see if ill have to ship it back, just havent had the time.

It runs perfectly in safe mode, I'm running it right now. I would hope that eliminates some possible answers. I've tried multiple drivers, even the stock one on gateways website. I've tried a total of 4 or 5 I believe. It got more and more frequent. So:
    1. Multiple tries on different drivers
    2. Not virus or spyware related (at least not known of)
    3. Runs perfectly in Safe Mode
    4. Not operating system related (we think)
    :confused2:

    1. I've tried over 10 drivers
    2. No virus/spyware b/c its done this after fresh os install
    3. Running in safe mode is utterly useless
    4. I've tried 4 different OS.
    Im calling gateway today.

I think you will have to send it back for repair.

I strongly recommend you to do so.I had the same exact problem when I first bought a 7811fx.

my simplest test was tu run Vista's chess game under the games folder.

since it uses a 3d engine I was able to test it quick and get the message popping up immediately.

luckily I still had it under the 14 days return policy with Best Buy. so I returned it on my 14th day.

I tried EVERYTHING!! reinstalling factory defaults, installing xp, installing vista home premium, ultimate, but nothing.

I believed back then, and I support now on this thread someone's theory on being the GPU the cause of the issue.

simply you must have gotten a defective GPU.

but I guess it varies from case to case.

to me for instance, I was able to play Flight Simulator 2004 for hours without getting a single error message.

that's what honestly kept me from returning it back right away. I thought I could work something to fix it.

but I guess there is really nothing any customer can do against defective electronic components, unless of course the problem is caused by drivers, which doesn't seem to be your case here.

    I suggest: return it!
