Ran 3dmark06 5 times in a row and never got above 80, ran bioshock max settings for 30 min, 97 (both temps for GPU in celsius) just wondering if there is anything I can try to make it run a little cooler, I just got it today!

do you hear your fan at all during these high temps? if not then your fan is malfunctioning and you're probably going to have to return it/exchange it

97 sounds abnormally high. personally my 7805 has never gone higher than 70 celsius. sounds really strange. i dont think i could reach 97 even if i covered all my vents

Let me know how that goes. I've had my P7811FX for roughly 6 months now, and despite all my best efforts my temps still skyrocket. 100C+ isn't a rare occurrence for me, and my game's FPS spikes down to 5 when it gets up in the 108C - 110C range. I've done everything. Updated BIOS, tried different GPU drivers, reformatted, bought the NZXT Cryo LX to keep it cool My idle temps get down to 19 for CPU and 28 for GPU, but when I tax the GPU at all, it shoots back up. I spoke to Best Buy about it, and they told me they could send it to their service department where they would attempt to "fix" the problem, then *MAYBE* replace it. From my understanding Gateway discontinued this laptop, and refuse to offer support or service them. I'd be extremely interested to see how you fare.

So, I may not send in my laptop now, I originally tried drivers from nVidia's site, but now I am using the one's from gateway, and my temps never went above 74 while playing bioshock maxed out for almost an hour. Will do some more tests tomorrow but maybe I have a solution!

What software do you use to measure your temp?

currently using CPUID, tomorrow I might install RivaTuner or something to confirm temps.
