I was looking at buying the 6860 but i came across a p172x fx... they both have the same graphics card, the 172x has a better processor and screen rez... I can get a p172x a little cheaper.. whats the deal here?

LoL...This would fall in the catagory of a "No Brainer".Definitely go for the 172X.
You are looking at Best Buy right?I think they're just not lowering the price on the 6860 because idiots are still buying it.Unless can you get it for a lot cheaper like I did,the P172X is far superior...and its even cheaper like you said.

Actually go for the P-7811 FX if you can.

your talking about this one right? cheaper, yes, but the no brainer would be to go for the 6860. twice the ram, twice the hard drive space, 9 cell battery vs. 6 cell.

or WAIT! get the 172X and use the difference in costs to upgrade the aforementioned components and the processor.

ah, thats where the confusion lied (with me at least) as there were three different offerings of the 172's. the X FX(the one i linked to) the S FX, and the XL FX (the one you linked to)

but ****, if the price is right, go for the one your friend will sell to you.
