    I need some advice, please.
I have the 6831fx and i have temps problems with the tz0, tz1 temps
heres the stpry with this laptop.
I bougth it form ebay, almost 2 years ago and i change dthe thermap paste with no problems at all.
2 moths ago i changed the thermal paste again, but i tore the chipset thermal pad and i overtigthen screw number 5.
After following some advices i ordered some 1mm copper shims, and even some 1mm thermal pads.

With the thermal pads the chipset goes to 80c in just 2 seconds of stress testing with everest, i stop the test and tried the copper shims.

With copper shim on chipset and artic ceramique on cpu. the max temps reached (many several tries)and stress testing with everest.
    TZ0 78MAX
    TZ1 72MAX
    CPU 70MAX

then i just aplied artic ceramique on the chipset(a lot) and some on the cpu and my temps are after 9 minutes of stress testing
    TZ0 70MAX
    TZ1 64MAX
    CPU 63MAX,63MAX

The temp, of the room is 20c aprox. so i think the temps are to high.
all this problems started when i ripped the chipset thermal paste, and i overtigthen screw #5(the one that puts preaasure on the chipset)
and i haven't been able to lower the temps.

I'm thinking of selling the laptop on ebay(i have an asus ATM)
For the record i have NOT let the laptop overheat in any way. so thereis no damage at all, to the motherboard or the cpu, chipset gpu. rigth now it's stable and it reaches the LAST temps i just mentioned on full.

sorry about my grammer english is not my first languaje.

you've been experiencing the exact same problem i had. I've got a X9100 installed in my 7805u. The problem stems from the fact that you ovetightened screw 5; by doing so, you've essentially broken it and the heatsink is not making full contact with the northbridge.

prior to figuring out it was due to my overtightening of screw 5, i had tried the following:

1). ICD7 on X9100, new thermal pad on chipset
2). AS5 on X9100, AS5 copper shim mod on chipset
3). AS5 on X9100, ICD7 copper shim mod on chipset
4). ICD7 on X9100, ICD7 copper shim mod on chipset
    5). (4) + 9 copper blocks expoxied onto heatsink + RAM heatspreaders + drilled holes CPU back-panel.

everything is now fixed once i ordered a new heatsink (and new backpanel :p ). You will immediately notice the difference in the amount of tension in the spring around screw 5 on the (replacement) heatsink.

in short, get a new heatsink.
