I have a P6831FX that starts but has no video at all. This machine was working fine the last time i used it. Six hours later i walked up to it and there was a black screen with the blue circle "hourglass" stationary on the screen and the machine was frozen. I had to do a hard power off by holding the power button down to get it to shutdown. Now when I start it there is no POST and no display. I can see that the screen is on and the brightness can be adjusted but there is no display. I Know that the computer is starting windows because i can hear it running in the background. I even used the text to speech feature at one point. I cannot get an external monitor to work through the VGA port either.

    So far I have tried:

Booting from a windows disk: machine will boot from the disk but no POST no video.

Removed RAM modules one at a time: No change
    Removed Both HDDs: no change
    Removed the Wireless module.
i pressed f2 during the boot and used F9, enter, F10, enter to reset the bios to default settings.

I was considering trying to flash and upgrade the BIOS if i could get someone to post the exact key strokes or a video of it being done

I love this machine and losing it is like losing an old friend.
    It has a t9300
    4GB ram
    2x250GB drives

    Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the GPU might be dead (not a big surprise either, nvidia had problems with the BGA solder cracking on a lot of GPUs around the time that your GPU was made).

Sounds like it to me as well.
I have a 6860 and one day the video wouldn't come up.
Brought into a local repair shop who did something with the solder and it fixed it.
But 27 days later it happened again.
    Brought it back under warranty.
17 days later it happened again.
    Brought it back under warranty.
3 days later it happened again.

And i'm waiting for it back at this point...
